About Pivot
Writers often receive feedback on a manuscript without receiving the information needed to decide what comes next. Pivot Project was created to address that gap.
As a bilingual literary platform, Pivot supports Hispanic and Latinx writers in the United States who work across languages, cultures, and literary traditions. It offers a space to develop a project, understand publishing options, and move forward with practical guidance rather than assumptions.

Roxana Calderón is a writer, editor, and the founder of Pivot Project. For more than twenty years, she worked in youth development across New York City’s nonprofit sector, where she developed a lasting interest in access, opportunity, and the systems that shape who receives support.
Her publishing path began with Dominican Writers Association, where her first book was published and where she later began editing. Through Spanglish Voces, she continued working with Hispanic and Latinx writers and saw that many needed more than editorial feedback: they needed practical information about publishing paths, manuscript preparation, and the choices that follow revision.
Roxana earned a Master’s in Publishing from The George Washington University. Pivot Project brings together her work in editorial development, publishing education, and community-based practice.

Cuatro clases para escribir poemas nuevos, aprender herramientas de escritura y compartir tu trabajo en un grupo pequeño.
Puedes venir aunque nunca hayas escrito un poema. Si ya escribes, encontrarás ejercicios para probar otras formas de escribir y revisar tus borradores. No necesitas traer poemas preparados.

Todas las clases son en español. No hay clase el 26 de noviembre, por Thanksgiving.
Leemos un poema con atención y conversamos sobre cómo está escrito. Después, recibes propuestas para escribir y tienes tiempo en clase para desarrollar tus ideas.
Al final, Roxana comenta una selección de los poemas escritos ese día: qué está funcionando y qué se puede seguir explorando. Compartir tu poema es opcional.
La tercera clase tiene un formato distinto: una conversación con una poeta o un poeta invitado sobre su escritura y su proceso de revisión.
Cómo pasar de explicar lo que sientes a mostrarlo con imágenes concretas. Exploramos también dónde cortar un verso y cómo esa decisión cambia lo que leemos.
Quién habla en tu poema y a quién le habla. Probamos cómo cambia un poema cuando cambias la persona que lo dice o la persona que lo escucha.
Leemos uno de sus poemas y conversamos sobre cómo lo escribió y lo revisó. Habrá tiempo para preguntas y ejercicios de escritura. Nombre por anunciar.
Cómo volver a un borrador y probar cambios sin tener que empezar de cero. Cambiamos la forma de un poema para descubrir otras posibilidades. Sales con un borrador para tu sesión individual.
Las sesiones serán del 11 al 17 de diciembre, en un horario acordado contigo. Envía tu poema de hasta 40 líneas por lo menos tres días antes de tu cita.
